tathā hi rajjururagaḥ śuktiḥ kārajataṃ yathā /
mṛgatṛṣṇāpathāyāmbhastṛptiṃ viṣṇo tathā jagat //

For just as a rope [is imagined as] a snake, an oyster shell as silver, / water in the path of a mirage, [yet does not yield] satisfaction, O Viṣṇu, so is the world.
