dohadena tathā devāḥ śrāddhaiḥ svāṃśca pitṝnnṛṇām //
Just as a pregnant woman pleases herself and her fetus / through her pregnancy cravings, so the gods, through the śrāddhas, [please] themselves and the ancestors of men.
