jātavedomuke deyā ekā pretamukhe tathā /
ūrdhvaṃ tu jvālayedvahniṃ pūrvabhāge citāṃ punaḥ //
One [oblation] should be given into the mouth of the fire, and likewise one into the mouth of the deceased;
one should kindle the fire above, and then the funeral pyre on the eastern part.
