2.27.40

svāmidrohakarā mitrabrāhmadrohakarāśca ye /
tīrthapāpakarā rājañjāyante pretayonayaḥ /
evamādyā mahārāja jāyante pretayonayaḥ //

those who betray their master, those who betray friends and brahmins, / and those who commit sins at sacred sites, O king, are born into the womb of a preta; / these and others, O great king, are born into the womb of a preta.”
