śrīkṛṣṇa uvāca /
satyaṃ punaḥ pravakṣyāmi udakumbhapradānakam /
pretoddeśena dātavyā annapānīyasaṃyutāḥ /
viśeṣeṇa mahāpakṣin pretamuktipradāyakāḥ //
The Holy Kṛṣṇa said:
I will declare again truly the gift of the water-jar.
They should be given dedicated to the preta, accompanied by food and water;
especially, O Great Bird, they bestow liberation upon the preta.
