tryahaṃ prātastryahaṃ sāyaṃ tryahamadyādayācitam /
upavāsastryahañcaiva eṣa kṛcchra udāhṛtaḥ //
The Blessed Kṛṣṇa said: / For three days [eating] in the morning, for three days in the evening, for three days eating unasked-for food, / and fasting for three days—this is declared to be the kṛcchra.
