kartavyaṃ brūhi me brahmankṛpayā mama suvrata //

Śaunaka said: / "For what purpose should the bowing to Viṣṇu at the beginning of a text, O best of sages, / be performed? Tell me, O Brahman, out of your compassion, O [sage] of good vows.
