sūta uvāca /
ādau vandyaḥ sarvavedaikavedyo vede śāstre setihāse purāṇe /
sattāṃ prāyo viṣṇurevaika eva prakāśate 'to namya eko harirhi //

Sūta said: / "First to be praised is the one to be known solely by all Vedas—in Veda, treatise, Itihāsa, and Purāṇa; / Viṣṇu alone predominantly shines as existence itself, therefore Hari alone is to be bowed to.
