eteṣāṃ śravaṇādviprāgāruḍāṅghyardhmeva ca /
sarveṣvapi purāṇeṣu śreṣṭhaṃ bhāgavataṃ smṛtam //

From hearing these, O brahmins, [the fruit is] half of one-fourth of the Garuḍa. / Yet among all the Purāṇas, the Bhāgavata is held to be the best.
