vālmīkiṛṣiṇā yasmātkuśenaiva vinirmitaḥ /
ataḥ kuśa iti prokto jānakīnandanaḥ prabhuḥ //
Because he was fashioned by the sage Vālmīki with kuśa grass alone,
therefore the son of Janaka’s daughter, the lord, was called Kuśa.
