nakulasya bhāryā māgadhasyaiva putrī śalyātmajā sahadevasya bhāryā /
ubhe hyete aśvibhāryā hyuṣāpi upāsate ṣaḍguṇaṃ viṣṇumādyam /
ato 'pyuṣāsaṃjñakā sā khagendra anantarāñchṛṇu vakṣye mahātman //
The wife of Nakula, the daughter of the king of Magadha, and the wife of Sahadeva, the daughter of Śalya— / both of these are wives of the Aśvins; and Uṣā worships the primeval Viṣṇu endowed with six virtues. / Therefore she is also named Uṣā, O King of Birds. Hear now of those who follow, O great-souled one.
