devena brahmaṇā dattaṃ yānamasya yato 'mbujam
puṣpavāhanamityāhus tasmāttaṃ devadānavāḥ //
At the beginning of the kalpa, the kingdom of this king, who lived in the lotus, was the seventh dvîpa:—on account of the great praise and honour given to it by the people, it came to be known as Puṣkara.—4. The King was called Puṣpavāhana by the Devas and the Dānavas on account of his having received the lotus for his conveyance.—5.
