etadicchāmyahaṃ śrotuṃ vistareṇa tapodhana
ānupūrvyācca me śaṃsa pūrorvaṃśadharānnṛpān //
Śatânîka asked :—" Śaunaka, how my ancestor Yayâti who was tenth in descent from Prajâpati married the daughter of Śukra. O, Sage ! I am anxious to hear about it. I am still more anxious to hear the history of the Paurava kings serially. Be gracious enough to relate all that in detail."—4-5.
