rohiṇī pauravī nāma bhāryā hy ānakadundubheḥ
lebhe jyeṣṭhaṃ sutaṃ rāmaṃ sāraṇaṃ ca sutaṃ priyam //

Rohiṇî, of the Puru family, the wife of Vasudeva known as Ânakadundubhi, gave birth to the eldest son, Balarâma, and to his brothers, Sâraṇa, Durduma, Damana, Śubhru, Piṇḍâraka, and Mahâhanu. She also gave birth to two beautiful daughters, named Chitrâ and Akṣî.—11-12.
