dvāviṃśatistathāṣṭau ca ye saṃskārāḥ prakīrtitāḥ
tadyukto 'pi na mokṣāya yastvātmaguṇavarjitaḥ //
The twenty-two as well as the eight Saṃskâras laid down in the law-books, put together, do not lead to emancipation if the man does not possess the eight spiritual qualifications mentioned above.—17.
