hiraṇyaromāṇam udagdigīśaṃ prajāpatir devasutaṃ cakāra
adyāpi kurvanti diśām adhīśāḥ śatrūn dahantastu bhuvo 'bhirakṣām //

Similarly, Lord Brahmâ made the Devas Sudharma, Śaṅkhapada, Ketumâna, Hiraṇyaromâ, the kings of East, South, West and North respectively: and They protect the universe by destroying its enemies, unto this day.—9-10.
