mārgaśīrṣe śubhe māsi tṛtīyāyāṃ mune vratam
dvādaśyāmathavāṣṭamyāṃ caturdaśyāmathāpi vā
ārabhecchuklapakṣasya kṛtvā brāhmaṇavācanam //
O Sage ! the ordinance (vrata) should be commenced on any one of the following days, in the month of Mârgaśir : the third, the twelfth, the eight or the fourteenth day of the bright fortnight, after invoking the Brâhmaṇas.—2.
