ayane viṣuve vāpi saṃkrāntivratamācaret
pūrvedyurekabhaktena dantadhāvanapūrvakam
saṃkrāntivāsare prātas tilaiḥ snānaṃ vidhīyate //
The Saṅkrānti ordinance should be observed on the day of equinoxes or solstices. The day, prior to Saṅkrānti, the devotee should have his meals only once; and, on the following day, he should bathe in water mixed with sesamum, after brushing his teeth.—2.
