ravisaṃkramaṇe bhūmau candanenāṣṭapattrakam
padmaṃ sakarṇikaṃ kuryāt tasminnāvāhayedravim //
On the day of the Saṅkrānti, the devotee should draw on the earth a lotus of eight petals with sandal, in the centre of which pericarps should be made, where the presence of the Sun should be invoked.—3.
