For what reason is there greatness of a sister? In this context, it is stated in the Purāṇa that an unmarried daughter possesses the quality of darkness (tamoguṇa), a wife possesses the quality of passion (rajoguṇa), and a sister possesses the quality of goodness (sattvaguṇa) (Bhaviṣya Purāṇa 3.4.18.24).
