8 hāṭakeśvaraprabhāvaṃ śrutvā sarvajanānāṃ tatra gamanam, viśvāmitrasyāpi kurukṣetraṃ tyaktvā tatraiva vāsaḥ, yajñādīnakṛtvāpi mokṣaprāptidamidaṃ kṣetramiti matvā devājñayā hāṭa-keśvarasya pātāle sthāpanam, tena nāgānāmapi tadbilena sarvatra gamanam, hāṭake-śvaramāhātmyavarṇane hiraṇyakaśipoḥ sutayā ramānāmnyā putraprāptyartha viṣṇumuddiśya tapaścaraṇam, viṣṇukṛpayā tato vṛtrāsurotpattiḥ, indrādibhirvṛtravadhārthaṃ kṛtayā viṣṇaprārthanayā tadvacanādvajrotpādanārthaṃ dadhīcyagre gamanam, dadhīcyasthinirmitava-jreṇa vṛtrasya parājayaḥ, tajjanyabrahmahatyādoṣanirāsārthaṃ śakrasya hāṭakeśvare gamanam, hāṭakeśvarapūjanena doṣanivṛttiḥ, svasthāne gamanam, hāṭakeśvaramāhātmyavarṇanam 8
