śambhuḥ prāha varaṃ vatsa yācasveti pitāmaham .
taṃ brahmā lokasṛṣṭyarthaṃ putratve7 manasā varīt8 . .6 . .

the Lord of Gods, Hara, the master of the great elements, came himself, / as if pervading the entire world with his supreme radiance. / Śambhu said to the grandfather: "Ask a boon, my child!" / Brahmā mentally chose him as a son for the sake of creating the worlds.
