Viṭpati, swiftly severed that shower of enemy weapons, as a quarrel [severs] affection. / Then those sons of Danu and Diti, standing in the sky, / roaring like rainclouds, hurled a shower of mountains at Viṭpati. / And others, stationed on the peak of Mount Mandara like a garland of Mandāra trees, / loosed śāla, pine, and deodar trees upon Viṭpati. / Severely battered by the Dānavas positioned in the sky and on earth, / Viṭpati turned away, like a fire quenched by water. / Seeing Viṭpati turned away, covered with mountains by the Dānavas,
