'More than truth, righteousness, austerity, gift-giving, cows, and the Vedas themselves—dearer than all these are you to me, O sovereign of the hosts! / And whoever recites your name at dawn, O guardian of the world, shall obtain the full fruit of a well-performed horse sacrifice. / And whoever hates you is hateful to me, even if devoted to righteousness; while whoever is dear to you shall always be dear to me. / The person who goes to sleep saying, "Salutations to Lord Nandin!" shall have no fear of the Kuṣmāṇḍa kings.' / While he was thus reciting the praise of Lord Nandin's virtues, the twilight, the extremely fierce body of Brahmā, arrived.
