āvāṃ hetū dvijātīnāṃ prakṛtitvāt tvameva ca .
prakṛtistvaṃ samākhyātā puruṣaḥ paramo hyaham ..8.173.3 0 . .
brahmaviṣṇū smṛtau yau tau rajaḥsatvaguṇātmakau .
āvābhyāṃ tau prajāyete sṛṣṭikāle prajāpatī . .31 ..

We two are the causes of the twice-born, and you too, by virtue of being nature. / You are declared to be nature (prakṛti), and I am the supreme person (puruṣa). // 30
Those two who are celebrated as Brahmā and Viṣṇu, consisting of the qualities of rajas and sattva— / from us two those two lords of creatures are born at the time of creation. // 31
