saṃsthāpitaḥ samāśvaste nākarodudakakriyām .
imāṃ pratijñāṃ cakre ca213 ṛṣimadhye mahātapāḥ . . 1 08. .
duṣkarāṃ214 sarvabhūtānāmupaspṛśya kṛtāñjaliḥ215 .
adyaprabhṛti nocchvāsaṃ kariṣyāmi kathañcana . . 10 9. .

being comforted and consoled, he did not perform the water rite; / and he of great austerity made this vow in the midst of the seers, / difficult to perform for all living beings, having sipped water with joined palms: / "From this day forward, I shall not draw breath in any way;
