sākṣādiva tapaḥsiddhiṃ śriyaṃ mūrttimatīmiva .
prāptāmiva ratiṃ sākṣāt kāntiṃ cāndramasīmiva ..48. .
mamaiveyaṃ43 mamaiveya44 miti tau dānavottamau45 .
abhisṛtya tu tau46 devīṃ pāṇyorjagṛhatuḥ samam47 ..49..

like the perfection of austerity in visible form, like Lakṣmī embodied,
like Rati herself arrived in person, like the radiance of the moon.
“She is mine alone!” “She is mine alone!” So crying, those two best of dānavas
rushed forward and seized the goddess simultaneously by her hands.
