hanyamānaśca tairdaṇḍo haviṣeddha ivānalaḥ .
bhūyastaraṃ prajajvāla vegavaccāpyadhāvata ..44..
tamapratihataṃ daṇḍaṃ jñātvā kārtasvanassa tu42 ..
rathamutsṛjya vegena āākāśasthobhavadbalī .45..
daṇḍaśca rathamabhyetya sahayaṃ saha yantṛṇā .
sadhvajaṃ sapatākaśca bhasma kṛtvā yayau punaḥ ...46..

Being struck by them, the staff, like a fire kindled with clarified butter, / blazed up all the more, and rushed forward swiftly.
Realizing that staff was unstoppable, the mighty Kārtasvana / abandoned his chariot with speed and stood in the sky.
And the staff, having reached the chariot with its horses, with its driver, / with its banner and pennant, reduced it to ashes and departed again.
