uvāca vacanaṃ rājā svabhāryāṃ duḥkhapīḍitaḥ /
bhadre duḥkham idaṃ jātaṃ yāvaj jīvaṃ suduḥsaham //

Afflicted with sorrow, the king addressed words to his wife: / 'O blessed lady, this sorrow that has arisen is exceedingly difficult to endure for all of life.
