piṇḍadānaṃ prakartavyaṃ pretānāṃ bhāvasaṃyutaiḥ /
piṇḍenaikena rājendra pretā yānti parāṃ gatim //
The offering of ancestral rice-balls should be made for the spirits of the dead by those endowed with right intention; / by a single rice-ball, O king of kings, the spirits of the dead go to the supreme state.
