sambhāraṃ vihitaṃ dṛṣṭvā kaikeyī pūrvakalpitau |
varau samprārthayāmāsa bhartāraṃ vaśavartinam ||

The queen Kaikeyî, seeing that various articles were being collected for the installation of Râma, asked for the two boons, promised before, from her husband Das’aratha, who was completely under her control.
