kāmaṭhaṃ saukaraṃ caiva nārasiṃhañca vāmanam |
yuge yuge jagannātho vāsudevo janārdanaḥ ||

Ordained by the Lord of the Universe, Nârayâna Himself had to take the Fish, Tortoise, Boar, Man Lion and the Dwarf incarnations.
