pañcadhā hṛdi saṃsthā yā buddhiḥ saiva na saṃśayaḥ |
cittarūpā mahābhāgā prakṛtistasya bho vibho ||
The intellect that abides in fivefold form within the heart is indeed she, there is no doubt;

The master of both is that Gaṇeśa, considered to consist of yoga and peace.
Knowing him, Rāma, we who have attained peace worship him.
3.26.58
buddhyā yad budhyate rāma tadevaṃ tasya rūpakam |

ato vighnena saṃyuktaṃ hīnaṃ prabhavati prabho ||
Everything described in the Vedas is subject to obstacles, O fortunate one;
therefore, connected with obstacle, it comes forth deficient, O lord.

taṃ bhajasva vidhānena vighnahīno bhaviṣyasi ||
Obstacles are declared to consist of reality; Gaṇeśvara is their master.

Worship Heramba with deep devotion; I tell you the path of devotion.
Thereby you will attain the god Gaṇeśa, there is no doubt in this.
3.26.64
svakīyasattayā hīno bhavedvai yadi mānavaḥ |
hīnastadā samākhyātaḥ parādhīnasvabhāvataḥ ||
If a human being should be devoid of his own real being,
he is then proclaimed deficient, because of his dependent nature.
3.26.65
dīnānāṃ rakṣakā ye vai īśvarāḥ parameśvarāḥ |
te dīnapālakāḥ proktā vicāraya mahāmate ||
The lords, supreme lords, who are protectors of the wretched,
are proclaimed guardians of the wretched; reflect on this, O noble-minded one.
3.26.66
dīnārthavācako rāma hervedeṣu viniścitam |
nātho rambastayoryoge herambaśca prakathyate ||
Rāma, 'he' is determined in the Vedas to express the meaning of the wretched;
'ramba' means 'protector'; through their union, he is proclaimed Heramba.

dīnāḥ sattāvihīnāśca sattāyuktāśca pālakāḥ |
teṣāṃ svāmī sa herambastaṃ bhajasva vidhānataḥ ||
The wretched are devoid of real being, and the protectors are endowed with real being;
Heramba is their master; worship him according to the injunctions.
3.26.68
abhimānaṃ ca dvividhaṃ tyaja tvaṃ rāghava prabho |
dīnātmakaṃ tathā pūrṇapālanātmakamuttamam ||
Abandon the twofold pride, O lord Rāghava:
that which consists in being wretched, and that noble [pride] which consists in complete protection.
3.26.69
dīnā yena kṛtā jīvāḥ pālakāḥ parameśvarāḥ |
tadadhīnaṃ jagadbrahma matvā taṃ śaraṇaṃ braja ||
Considering the universe and Brahman to be subject to him
by whom living beings were made wretched and the supreme lords protectors, go to him for refuge.
3.26.70
evamuktvā mahādevo rāghavaṃ ca salakṣmaṇam |
antardhānaṃ jagāmā'pi rāghavastatra saṃsthitaḥ ||
Having spoken thus to Rāghava accompanied by Lakṣmaṇa,
Mahādeva vanished, while Rāghava remained right there.
3.26.71
vidyādhīśapure rāmastatāpa tapa uttamam |
śivopadiṣṭamantreṇa toṣayāmāsa vighnapam ||
In the city of the lord of knowledge, Rāma performed supreme austerities;
with the mantra taught by Śiva, he propitiated the lord of obstacles.
3.26.72
herambaṃ taṃ sadā rāmo lakṣmaṇaśca viśeṣataḥ |
pupūja bhaktisaṃyukto nirāhārasamanvitaḥ ||
Rāma and especially Lakṣmaṇa constantly worshipped that Heramba,
endowed with devotion and abstaining from food.
3.26.73
dhyānena tasya devasya svalpakālena ca prabhuḥ |
rāmaḥ śāntiyuto vipra samabhūd yogasevayā ||
Through meditation on that god, in a short time the lord
Rāma, endowed with peace through practicing yoga, became [tranquil], O twice-born.
3.26.74
niścayaṃ tasya rāmasya dṛṣṭvā bhaktaṃ tamāyayau |
ṣaṇmāsaiśca varaṃ dātuṃ gaṇeśaḥ karuṇānidhiḥ ||
Seeing the firm resolve of Rāma, his devotee, Gaṇeśa, an ocean of compassion,
arrived after six months to grant him a boon.
3.26.75
salakṣmaṇaṃ ca rāmaṃ sa bodhayāmāsa vighnapaḥ |
tato dhyānaṃ parityajya gaṇapaṃ nematuḥ param ||
The lord of obstacles awakened Rāma together with Lakṣmaṇa;
then, renouncing their meditation, the two bowed deeply to the leader of the gaṇas.
3.26.76
tatastaṃ pūjayāmāsa rāmo devavaro mune |
tuṣṭāva sa gaṇādhīśaṃ bhaktinamrātmakandharaḥ ||
Then Rāma, the best of gods, worshipped him, O sage;
his neck bowed with devotion, he praised the Gaṇādhīśa.

Wretchedness and capability are subject to you, there is no doubt;
therefore protect me, O lord of yoga; salutations, salutations to the lord of yoga.
3.26.85
kiṃ staumi tvāṃ gaṇādhīśa śāntiyogasvarūpiṇam |
na samarthāśca vedā yaṃ yogīndrāstatra ko'pyaham ||
How can I praise you, O Gaṇādhīśa, whose nature is peace and yoga?
The Vedas and chiefs of yogins are not capable of this; what then am I?
3.26.86
rāmasya tasya stuvata evaṃ sambhaktibhāvitaḥ |
romodgamaḥ prādurāsīt kaṇṭharodhastathaiva ca ||
As that Rāma was praising thus, deeply moved by devotion,
horripilation appeared, as well as choking of the throat.

anyairjāmbavadādyaiśca vānarairdevarūpibhiḥ ||
surrounded by Hanūmat, Aṅgada, and others, by Sugrīva and others,
and by others such as Jāmbavat—monkeys who had the forms of gods.

tato'tivihvalo rāmaḥ sasmāra gaṇanāyakam ||
Rāma's weapons and missiles were completely blunted;
then, deeply overwhelmed, Rāma remembered the leader of the gaṇas.
3.26.107
smṛtimātreṇa rāmasya hṛdi cintāmaṇiḥ svayam |
dadau sphūrtiṃ tathā rāmo jaghāna rāvaṇaṃ mune ||
Merely upon Rāma's recollection, Cintāmaṇi himself
gave inspiration in his heart; thus Rāma killed Rāvaṇa, O sage.

svayaṃ buddhipatiḥ sākṣādrāmārthaṃ buddhido'bhavat |
