divyair varṣasahasrais tu yugaṃ tretādisaṃjñitam
caturyugaṃ dvādaśabhis tadvibhāgaṃ nibodha me //
A yuga designated as Tretā and the rest consists of thousands of divine years;
a cycle of four ages consists of twelve [thousand]; learn from me its divisions.
