vibhaktaṃ saptabhiḥ khaṇḍaiḥ skāndaṃ bhāgyavatāṃ vara /
tadekāśītisāhasraṃ saṃkhyayā vai nirūpitam //

Divided into seven sections is the Skānda, O best of the fortunate;
that is indeed defined as eighty-one thousand in count.
