śrīmārkaṇḍeya uvāca:
tasminnekārṇave ghore naṣṭe sthāvarajaṅgame /
udadhau ca śayānasya devadevasya cakriṇaḥ //
The glorious Mārkaṇḍeya said:
"When that single dreadful ocean had formed and the moving and unmoving had vanished,
while the god of gods, the discus-bearer, was lying in the ocean,
