narasyārddhatanuṃ kṛtvā siṃhasyārddhatanuṃ tathā /
hiraṇyakaśiporvakṣo vidadāra nakhāṅkuśaiḥ //
Having made half his body a man and half his body a lion,
he tore open the chest of Hiraṇyakaśipu with the hooks of his claws.
