jamadagnisuto rāmo bhūtvā śastrabhṛtāṃ varaḥ /
kṣatriyān pṛthivīpālān avadhīddhaihayādikān //
Becoming Rāma, the son of Jamadagni, the best among bearers of weapons,
he killed the kṣatriya protectors of the earth, beginning with the Haihayas.
