śrīmārkaṇḍeya uvāca:
mīno bhūtvā purā kalpe prītyarthaṃ brahmaṇo vibhuḥ /
samarpayatsamuddhṛtya vandānmagnānmahārṇave //
Śrī Mārkaṇḍeya said:
Having become a fish in a former kalpa to please Brahmā, the Lord,
lifting up the Vedas that were submerged in the great ocean, restored them.
