oṃ yamadvāre mahāghore yā sā vaitaraṇī nadī /
tartukāmo dadāmyenāṃ tubhyaṃ vaitaraṇi namaḥ /
ityadhivāsanamantraḥ //
"Oṃ. That river Vaitaraṇī which is at the terrifying gate of Yama, / desiring to cross it, I give this [cow]; salutation to you, O Vaitaraṇī!" / Such is the preliminary consecration mantra.
