śrīmārkaṇḍeya uvāca:
tato gacchenmahīpāla tīrthaṃ kanakhalottamam /
garuḍena tapastaptaṃ pūjayitvā maheśvaram //

The glorious Mārkaṇḍeya said: / Then, O protector of the earth, one should go to the supreme pilgrimage place Kanakhala, / where ascetic penance was performed by Garuḍa after worshipping Maheśvara.
