garuḍa uvāca:
oṃ yā sā kṣutkṣāmakaṇṭhā navarudhiramukhā pretapadmāsanasthā bhūtānāṃ vṛndavṛndaiḥ pitṛvananilayā krīḍate śūlahastā /
śastradhvastapravīravrajarudhiragalanmuṇḍamālottarīyā devī śrīvīramātā vimalaśaśinibhā pātu vaścarmamuṇḍā //

Garuḍa said:
Om! She whose throat is emaciated by hunger, whose mouth has fresh blood, who sits on a lotus-seat of corpses, who, dwelling in the cremation ground with hosts of spirits, plays spear in hand, / whose upper garment is a garland of severed heads dripping with the blood of troops of heroes destroyed by weapons, the goddess, the glorious mother of heroes, resembling the spotless moon—may Carmermuṇḍā protect you all!
