baṭur uvāca:
dinaśeṣeṇa cāsmākaṃ pañcatāṃ ca dine dine /
niṣpattiṃ yāti vā neti tad asiddham aśeṣataḥ //
The student novice said: / "With the remainder of the day, our [sustenance] perishes day by day; / whether it reaches completion or not, it is completely unprepared."
