śrīmārkaṇḍeya uvāca:
sādhu pṛṣṭaṃ mahārāja yacchreyaḥ pāralaukikam /
śṛṇuṣvāvahito bhūtvā yathājñānaṃ vadāmi te //

The venerable Mārkaṇḍeya said:
You have asked well, O great king, about what is the highest good for the next world;
listen attentively, and I shall tell you according to my knowledge.
