yāvadasthīni tiṣṭhanti martyasya narmadājale /
tāvadvasati dharmātmā śivaloke sudurlabhe //
as long as the bones of a mortal remain in the water of the Narmadā,
so long does that righteous soul dwell in the very difficult-to-attain world of Śiva.
