sakalaṃ yugasāhasraṃ narmadeyaṃ vijānatī /
prasuptaṃ devadeveśamupāste varavarṇinī //

For a whole thousand yugas, this Narmadā, knowing [all], / of fair complexion, attended upon the deeply sleeping lord of the gods.
