akṣaraṃ ca japenmantraṃ sauraṃ vā śivadaivatam /
athavā vaiṣṇavaṃ mantraṃ dvādaśākṣarasaṃjñitam //
And one should recite an imperishable mantra, either dedicated to the Sun or to Śiva, / or the Vaiṣṇava mantra known as the twelve-syllabled one.
