Beholding our little son on the chariot-trafficked street, / wearing golden bracelets, desired by all, / with flawless palms resembling the radiant petals / of the core amid pollen of the lotus blooming in ancient, water-dogged waters, / and gem-like, lovely mouth babbling sweet, smiling words not yet shaped by the tongue, / the sharp-toothed young woman approached him; / seeing no one around, she fondly imagined him her own, / pressed him against her young, jewel-bearing breasts adorned with golden ornaments, / said, "Come here, my very life!" and held him in great joy; / seeing her standing there, unable to move away, / I called to her: "Flawless young woman! Why have you become confused? / Are you not also a mother to him?" / At my words, she came hurriedly and embraced him, / then hung her head like one caught in a theft, scraped the ground with her toe, / and stood in shame; seeing her state, / did I not also treat her with love, my lord? / For it is fitting that she, who is like the terrifying, unapproachable goddess in the heavens, / should be the mother of your son!
