"In the cool morning time when dark-winged birds roosting on high branches / looking like green leaves dipped in sticky oil, / leave behind their daytime dwelling in the ancient tree making it lonely, / and the cheerful jasmine, opening its buds, / smells sweet like the hair of a newly wedded woman, / and bees swarm over the creepers— / even if he comes or does not come, / is it sweet for him there, long may you live, my friend?"— / thus she spoke, as the fine whites of her cool eyes with many petals turned red, / and the bard came as an envoy, lovingly saying, / "She suffers unbearable distress!" / So harness swiftly the horses not matched in colour, / and drive the tall chariot, charioteer! / Finished indeed is the task we had intended!
