பிணர்மோட்டு நந்தின் பேழ்வாய் ஏற்றை
கதிர்மூக்கு ஆரல் களவன் ஆக,
நெடுநீர்ப் பொய்கைத் துணையொடு புணரும்
மலிநீர் அகல்வாய் யாணர் ஊர!
போதுஆர் கூந்தல் நீவெய் யோளொடு
தாதுஆர் காஞ்சித் தண்பொழில் அகல்யாறு
ஆடினை என்ப நெருநை; அலரே
காய்சின மொய்ம்பின் பெரும்பெயர்க் கரிகால்
ஆர்கலி நறவின் வெண்ணி வாயில்,
சீர்கெழு மன்னர் மறலிய ஞாட்பின் .246-10
இமிழிசை முரசம் பொருகளத்து ஒழியப்,
பதினொரு வேளிரொடு வேந்தர் சாய,
மொய்வலி அறுத்த ஞான்றை,
தொய்யா அழுந்தூர் ஆர்ப்பினும் பெரிதே.

O man of the town with abundant water, wide shores, and fresh wealth, / where the wide-mouthed male of the rough-bellied snail / makes love to his mate in the long-watered pool, / with a mud-carp having a pointed snout acting as a pimp! / They say that yesterday you bathed in the wide river / in the cool grove filled with pollen of river-portia trees, / with that woman of blossom-strewn hair whom you desire; / the public scandal is greater / than the uproar of unshakable Aḻuntūr / on the day when the great Karikāl of burning anger and mighty prowess, / at the gate of Veṇṇi rich in intoxicating toddy, / in the battle where renowned kings fought in rage, / made the two monarchs together with eleven Vēḷir chieftains fall, / leaving their sounding war drums on the battlefield, / and destroyed their gathered strength!
